Know what your child is eating
Red Spot Cafe has introduced a range of meal choices to provide a greater variety of foods for TIS students. These include items such as pizza slices, fish fingers, chicken nuggets and hot dogs. While most people would agree that eating these foods occasionally is not harmful, and even beneficial in terms of adding variety to one's diet, some parents might not want their children to be eating these items on a daily basis.
If parents have any concerns regarding lunch menu selections, we suggest the parent completes the form together with their child and that the parent submits the form & payment either to TIS office or to Red Spot Cafe (MUST).
While our staff have on occasion tried to tactfully intervene (eg dissuading a student from buying 3 egg tarts for himself, or another buying pizza slices every day), in no way do we police students' purchasing behaviours nor question why, for example, all the sandwich choices on an order form have been crossed out and replaced with requests for pizza meals.
Likewise, we have no control over students who routinely throw their bundled piece of fruit in the rubbish bin.
These are issues that parents should discuss with their children.
